University of Essex in the UK – Master’s Degree in Sociological Research Methods
Deborah is the newest member of the Heller Wiegenstein team. She handles office administration as well as a multiplicity of paralegal tasks for all three lawyers. Deborah earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Essex in the UK and spent time working on research in the politics department there, which piqued her interest in developing a career as a researcher. She went on to study for a master’s degree in Sociological Research Methods, also at the University of Essex.
After graduating, Deborah worked as a researcher for the National Foundation for Education Research in the UK, evaluating methods to measure student’s academic growth and attainment. Her responsibilities included interviewing students and teachers, survey design, data analysis and report writing.
Before moving into the legal field at HW, she worked for the University of Washington’s bioethics department, assisting faculty researchers by conducting interviews with physicians and patients and collecting and organizing data.
Deborah moved to the US with her husband and settled in Poulsbo to raise their family. Deborah spends her spare time cheering on her children at their sporting events and riding horses.
