Jeanine Blackett Lutzenhiser
Jeanine’s years of experience as a secondary teacher helped prepare her for her new career as a lawyer. She joined Heller Wiegenstein in 2016 and works primarily in the firm’s insurance defense litigation and estate planning practices. She has assisted with cases involving timber and water trespass claims, personal injury, boundary disputes, contractor negligence claims, auto accidents, and HOA claims.
During law school, Jeanine interned in the chambers of Judge Anne Ellington at Division I, Washington State Court of Appeals, and Judge Mary Yu at King County Superior Court. As part of the UW Mediation Clinic, Jeanine completed a 36-hour Mediator Certification Training and helped mediate cases for the EEOC and small claims court. She gained interviewing and counseling skills as a UW Student Legal Services intern and by serving alongside pro bono lawyers at Open Door Legal Services in Seattle, where she still volunteers. After law school, Jeanine clerked for Judge J. Robert Leach and served as interim staff attorney at Division I. She enjoys applying the legal research and writing skills she gained from those experiences to her work at HW, and has drafted and edited numerous briefs for summary judgment and other civil motions.
Jeanine grew up in a Coast Guard family, and she loves living in Kitsap County, surrounded by so much salt water. She enjoys classical choral music, excellent detective fiction, and spending time with family and friends. She and her husband Mark have two adult daughters.
